Net metering is a good way to sell your access electricity to WAPDA. It permits the clients to produce their own electricity effectively and efficiently. It is actually a billing mechanism that credits the solar energy system owner for adding the power to the grid.
For example, if a client Solar PV system creates more electricity than the home uses during sunlight hours. Now if the house is Net-metered, the power meter will run in reverse to give a credit against the electricity used by the house in evening where house’s electricity utilization exceeds the system’s yield. The clients are charged only for their “Net” electricity utility. The advanced digital bi-directional meter keeps running in both directions to accommodate electricity generated by clients Solar PV system.
How does Net Metering work?
- Solar panels convert energy from sun into electricity.
- The inverter converts the electricity produced by the solar panels from direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC) for use in your home, school and business.
- The amount of energy is used by home appliances and the remaining amount of energy generated is sent to bi directional meter which allows Power utility company to use the extra electricity generated by your installed solar panels. This electricity is sold on Power utility company which turns your electricity bill to minus.
